This is August. Leave a message and I'll get back to you. Unless you're a jackass who decided to track down my personal info instead of using the business number, in which case fuck you.
[Out pops the photo, which August reaches over to take before Katsuki can. That's...that's just for the best. Just in case.
And yeah, it's not the prettiest. It's of August in his demon form (but clearly after training, if the fact that he's flying is any indication), bleeding and fighting against a much larger demon in what is probably Hell. There's others visible, but they're in motion as they fight.
[Katsuki bites back his mild annoyance at the action. He doesn't really like being treated like he can't handle things. But he reasons... it's also possible there are things August just doesn't want him seeing.]
So is it something you remember? Or is this something you've got no context for?
Huh... so seeing a picture from the memory isn't enough to give you one of those full-on memory flashes? But they get triggered by the smallest things...
At least not with this photo. Maybe this happened a lot or something, I dunno. And it doesn't work like this with the isekais. It just shows them memories from home.
How about the other times? You get a memory last time? Did the others?
[He's just getting a feel for things before they do this. Is that something he has to be prepared for? He's going through with it regardless. Just... mentally preparing is always good.]
The first time showed me getting run through with a sword, and when I first transformed it sorta connected to that memory. The second time just showed a photo of friends, no real memory there, just the realization that apparently my best friend back home was my best friend then too.
[A beat.]
And I've always been a pining disaster but that's not news.
[He reaches out and takes the photo, looking down at it. He studies it quietly for several seconds. Then he lays it on the table.
It shows him standing in an alleyway, some kind of monster made entirely of slime behind him. Mouth open wide as if it's about to swallow him whole. It's jarring to look at. Ominous. But not bloody and not something he's afraid of sharing.
But something else strikes him that... hadn't before.]
He looks so young. I've been thinking he had to be my age or older but now that I get a real good look at him, he's just a fucking kid...
[It doesn't really tell him much else. Just... this other him was young and always seems to be fighting for his life...]
[The next one isn't as bad as the first in that it doesn't have a monster bearing down on him trying to eat him. But it's still concerning in it's own right. Katsuki is sitting in a chair in what appears to be a bar, arms bound as he glares at a group of people around him. Some of which look human. Some decidedlydon't.
But it's the final one that makes him pause. The thing that strikes him is it could have easily been from his own memories. He's maybe five years old, his arm slung around the shoulders of an equally tiny Izuku. Both of them beaming ear to ear as they hold up bug cages with beetles in them. He already knew that this other him knew Izuku. But the relationship he'd seen between them certainly didn't add up with what he's seeing here.]
Better not push it.
[He hastily tucks the photos away once he's shown them. Nothing to hide about them. But if it's showing Izuku... better to call it quits. He doesn't want August to see the awful things he's seen of them when they're older in that world. Doesn't want to see more of it himself.]
Yeeeep. Apparently, the best way to figure that shit out the first time is serious bodily harm. When you can heal a fucking broken bone in like, days though...well.

[Look August will never say no to free food, okay? And he will absolutely be there whenever Katsuki gets there.]

You order yet?

[But he'll settle on a burger eventually. That's gotta be safe, right?]
Do you want to use the camera on me first, so you can see what I mean about how it works?
no subject
Yeah. Just tell me how to do it.
no subject
Literally just point and click. Warning, it might show something gruesome when you take the picture of me.

[He's not backing out now. So he takes the camera, aims it at August and clicks the button.]

He shows it to Katsuki.]
Well, still not as bad as the first one.

no subject
I mean, now that I'm looking at it I remember it happening but otherwise? No context. No idea what's going on here at all.

[He passes the camera back to August.]
Okay. Think I'm ready. Let's see what other disasters that bastard has in store for me.
['That bastard' being the other him.]
no subject
[Seriously. It's bad.
But August will take the photo. When it pops out, he gestures for Katsuki to take it.]
Unless you want me to. This shit's kind of personal.

You care if I keep the photo?
no subject
Go right ahead. I can take a few more if you want? See what else you get.
no subject
Yeah. Maybe one or two more. Don't want to push my luck too much but... it's fascinating in a morbid way?
no subject
[And August takes two more photos for Katsuki.]
There we go. Anything interesting?

You mentioned something happened in Stardew?
no subject
Yeah, so. You know how I can transform now? And you know how that first photo was of me getting run through?
no subject
Are those two things connected somehow?

[Do the math.]
